Fleetwood Mac get first authorized documentary, “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain”, on Apple TV

“Fleetwood Mac: The Chain”, the first documentary made with the band's full authorization, premieres on Apple TV on 29 January 2027, OndaRock, Rolling Stone and MusicRadar reported. The release is timed to the 50th anniversary of “Rumours”, which came out on 4 February 1977.

The Apple Original Films production is directed by Frank Marshall, a five-time Oscar nominee, from a script by Mark Monroe. It is produced by The Kennedy/Marshall Company and White Horse Pictures, with Nigel Sinclair, known for documentaries on The Beatles and Bob Dylan, among the producers. According to Rolling Stone, the project was first announced in 2024.

The film starts in December 1974, when Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band, and runs to the present. According to MusicRadar, it skips the Peter Green years, when Fleetwood Mac were a British blues group. All five members of the classic line-up - Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Buckingham and Nicks - feature in new interviews, alongside unseen archive footage. Christine McVie died in November 2022.

The title comes from “The Chain”, the only song in the band's catalogue credited to all five members. Marshall said in 2024 it would be a film “about the music and the people who created it.” The band have sold more than 220 million records worldwide.

Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967. Their newest studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Say You Will” from 2003.
