Fontaines D.C. released their album “Dopamine Chamber” on 16 October 2026, and German magazine Visions named it album of the week in its roundup of new releases.

According to Visions, the band shuts a door on its own past, cuts its ties to post-punk and drifts further into electronic sound. The magazine describes the record as the soundtrack to a party at the end of the world, built on dimmed light, cool synthesizers, pulsing beats and shimmering arrangements, the picture of a band reinventing itself. Visions writes that the album traces the lure of intoxication while exposing the emptiness behind it.

The same list features post-rock band Caspian’s self-titled album, Itchy’s “Happy Little Accidents”, Anda Morts’ “Hektomatik”, whose rough sound Visions credits to Sven Regener, Eels’ “Cookie Happened”, Paerish’s “Rita”, Åskväder’s second album “Wax”, “Obsolet” by Gelsenkirchen band Desolat and “Biomes”, the second album by Norway’s Grant The Sun.

Fontaines D.C. are a rock band formed in Dublin in 2017, associated with post-punk and indie pop. Their previous studio album, “Romance”, came out in August 2024, according to MusicBrainz. In October mbuzz reported on the single “Tongue” and on “Where Is Gone?”, a collaboration with Rosalía, both from the new album, and the band is among the first names announced for Barcelona’s Primavera Sound 2027.
