Liam Gallagher says Fontaines D.C. are not good enough to open for Oasis

Liam Gallagher posted on X on 16 October 2026 that Fontaines D.C. are “not good enough” to support Oasis on their “Live ’27” tour, adding that the Irish band “don’t have any tunes”, NME reports. The jab landed on the day Fontaines D.C. released their album “Dopamine Chamber”, which they previewed the night before with an intimate show at London’s Roundhouse.

The spat goes back to 2024, when Carlos O’Connell and Conor Deegan III said they did not care about the Oasis reunion, Deegan calling it “really annoying” for a band trying to look forward. Gallagher hit back with insults at the time, comparing them to EMF. Frontman Grian Chatten distanced himself from his bandmates, writing that he loves Oasis. NME has asked the band’s representatives for comment.

Announced on 14 September, “Live ’27” runs to 42 dates, all sold out: five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park, 11 at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, six at Knebworth, two at Slane Castle, plus shows in mainland Europe and the US. Richard Ashcroft is so far the only confirmed support act.

At the Roundhouse, Fontaines D.C. spoke of a very tough year, appearing to refer to the death of manager Trevor Dietz in June, then played “Favourite” from 2023’s “Romance”. NME gave the new album five stars, and a Fontaines special of Later... With Jools Holland airs in November.

Liam Gallagher, born in Manchester in 1972, is the voice of Oasis; his newest studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Liam Gallagher John Squire” (February 2024). In October, mbuzz reported that the documentary “Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger” does not show how the Gallagher brothers reconciled.
