Patrick Mason releases debut solo single “Hood Dub 7” on his MASONICS label
DJ Patrick Mason released “Hood Dub 7”, his debut solo single, through his own label, MASONICS. The track reworks Paranoid London’s “Paris Dub 1”, with Mason’s own vocals running through the mix.
According to We Rave You, rolling percussion and a dubbed-out bassline carry the record, while soft, atmospheric leads sit against hard, minimal kicks. Mason called the track his “love letter to Berlin”, a tribute to his early days at Berghain. He said “Paris Dub 1” was one of the first techno tracks he truly connected with, and that he wanted to recapture that feeling in a more contemporary, darker form shaped by his own experiences.
MASONICS is presented as an extension of Mason’s identity, rooted in underground culture. The label aims to link the music’s radical history with a new generation of artists and to offer room for experimentation, especially for those who are often denied access.
The release arrives just ahead of Amsterdam Dance Event, where MASONICS takes over Lofi on Wednesday, 21 October. Mason curates a lineup of Laure Croft, Yasmin Regisford, Shinedoe and special guest DJ Rush, the Chicago-born techno figure. German choreographer Soraya Schulthess and her DANCÆ collective will perform a specially commissioned piece.
With a background in design, visual arts and fashion, Mason has appeared on major lineups in recent years, including Day Trip Festival in Southern California in 2025. His sets blend high-octane techno and rhythmic house with a runway-inspired performance edge.
