Skrillex apologises for his set at Head Trip festival

Skrillex has apologised for his set and sound at Head Trip, the Goldenvoice festival in Indio, California. In a post on X, the American producer took full responsibility, saying he was having a nightmare on stage himself and hated how bad it was for the crowd. He added there were “no excuses, will take the L”, promising to learn from it, but did not explain what went wrong.

Skrillex played on Sunday, October 11. The festival’s first day had been cut short by lightning: Under Construction’s set was stopped at 9 p.m. and Calvin Harris’ headline slot was cancelled. Harris was moved to the Sunday bill, so Skrillex, Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia played one after another on the festival’s single stage, in front of around 90,000 people at the Empire Polo Club.

According to We Rave You, Harris opened with “Sweet Nothing” and closed with Avicii’s “Levels”, while Swedish House Mafia ran 33 minutes past the sound curfew. Near the end of his own set, Skrillex also paid tribute to Avicii with his dubstep edit of “Levels”, a remix he has been playing for 15 years.

Skrillex is an American DJ and producer, born in Los Angeles in 1988. His newest studio album is “SOMA”, released in June 2026, according to MusicBrainz. In October mbuzz reported that he had teamed up with Dutch duo Ring Noord on a remix of “Starlight”, Danny L Harle’s song with PinkPantheress.
