Phantogram mark ten years of “Three” with vinyl, Dolby Atmos mix and remix

Phantogram have marked the 10th anniversary of “Three” with a limited-edition Smoky Sky Blue vinyl pressing, an alternate cover with metallic foil and a new Dolby Atmos mix of the album, according to uDiscover Music. The release comes with Aaron Hibell’s remix of “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore.”

First released on October 7, 2016, “Three” debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. Its 10 tracks were shaped in part by the death of Sarah Barthel’s sister, Becky. Looking back, Barthel and Josh Carter said they made the record over six months in Echo Park during one of the heaviest periods of their lives, out of grief, heartbreak and the need to keep moving.

Hibell called the original his all-time favorite Phantogram song and said he wanted to build on its grit, shaping the remix around the rhythm of the vocal. The duo filmed the song’s original video at the Salton Sea, a place they described as “both beautiful and tragic.”

Phantogram have also teamed up with Beatport on a remix competition for “Funeral Pyre,” the album’s opening track. Independent artists and producers can download the song’s a cappella stems and submit a rework for a chance at an official release. Submissions close on December 4. The duo said the title evokes “a fire for saying goodbye.”

Phantogram are an American electronic rock duo formed in New York City in 2007. Their newest studio album, according to MusicBrainz, is “Memory of a Day,” released in October 2024.
