Roland launches Jupiter-08 and n/vision synths in its Boutique series
Roland has released two new synthesizers in its compact Boutique series: the Jupiter-08, a digital recreation of the Jupiter-8, and the n/vision, the Japanese company's first true wavetable synth, according to Gearnews and MusicRadar.
The Jupiter-08 marks 45 years since the Jupiter-8, the analogue polysynth released in 1981, and follows the JP-08, a four-voice model unveiled in 2015 with the launch of the Boutique range. It models the original's oscillators and filters with Roland's ABM (Analogue Behaviour Modelling) technology. It runs eight voices by default, expandable to 32, and can layer two patches in Dual mode or split them across the keyboard in Split mode. It adds a polyphonic step sequencer, an arpeggiator and 17 built-in effects, and ships with the K-25m keyboard dock. The price is $649, £589 or €689.
The n/vision offers 56 voices, two parts, two mixable wavetable layers, a waveshaper and nine filter modes. It comes with 63 wavetables plus one the user can create, a polyphonic sequencer, built-in effects and a white K-25m dock. Its USB-C port carries both MIDI and audio, and an analogue clock input syncs it with drum machines and modular systems. It sells for €689 at Thomann. Gearnews notes that Roland first used wavetables in the GAIA 2 three years ago and later in the SH-4d.
In October mbuzz reported that Roland had also unveiled two V-Drums electronic kits, the TD-07DMK2 and the TD-07KV2.
