The Beatles’ “Let It Be” passes one billion streams on Spotify
The Beatles’ “Let It Be” has passed one billion streams on Spotify, joining the platform’s Billions Club, according to uDiscover Music. It is the band’s third song to reach the mark, after George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Sun” and the Lennon-McCartney song “Come Together”, both from the 1969 album “Abbey Road”.
Released as a single in March 1970, “Let It Be” was the title track of the band’s twelfth and final studio album. Paul McCartney wrote and sang it, and announced his departure from the group shortly after its release. Sessions began in January 1969; George Martin produced the single version, while the album version carried additional production by Phil Spector.
The single debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest debut on the chart at the time, and later reached No. 1. The song also features in the 1970 documentary “Let It Be”, whose restored version arrived on Disney+ in 2024 alongside a new music video built from restored footage and previously unseen outtakes.
The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960 and split in 1970. On 2 October an expanded edition of their 1965 album “Rubber Soul” came out, with new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes, unreleased session recordings and home demos. McCartney has also announced a special edition of his solo album “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane”, featuring a new mix of his Ringo Starr collaboration “Home To Us” and three previously unreleased songs.
