A David Bowie concert filmed in 1978 at London’s Earls Court during the “Heroes” tour will return to the stage as an immersive show called “Stage”, with a world premiere on 14 February 2027 at Berlin’s Uber Arena, according to Mondo Sonoro. The premiere is staged with the city’s film festival, and after Berlin the tour moves across Europe between May and July, ending back at Earls Court.

The 35mm footage stayed hidden for almost half a century. Filmmaker Brett Morgen (“Moonage Daydream”) found the material a decade ago, but the project only gathered pace in 2024 when promoter Rob Hallett came on board. It is developed by the Bowie estate, Wonderworld and Morgen.

To create the illusion of Bowie physically on stage, the production combines transparent LED screens, immersive audio mapping by Oscar winner Paul Massey (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) and lighting by Patrick Woodroffe. The show also opens “Bowie80”, the global celebration of what would have been the musician’s 80th birthday.

David Bowie, the English musician and actor born in Brixton in 1947, died in 2016. His final studio album, “★”, came out on 8 January 2016, according to MusicBrainz. In October mbuzz reported, citing NME, that the unseen concert would tour arenas from 2027.
