Madonna releases an instrumental version of “Confessions II”
Madonna announced on 4 November that she is releasing “Confessions II: Instrumentals”, a voice-free version of her latest album. It arrives on streaming services on 6 November, with a vinyl edition following on 10 November, according to Billboard.
She shared the news on X, posting a logo for the record in the same purple palette as the original, with the title wrapped around the speaker image also used to promote the album, and urged listeners to turn up the volume.
“Confessions II” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated 18 July, giving Madonna her tenth chart-topping album and her first of the 2020s. That made her the first act with a No. 1 album this decade to have also topped the chart in three other decades. The record also brought her biggest streaming week ever for an album.
The 16-track set is a sequel to 2005’s “Confessions on a Dance Floor” and reunites her with producer and DJ Stuart Price. Tainy, Martin Garrix, Mirwais, Cirkut and Andrew Watt also worked on it, and guests include Feid, Stromae and Sabrina Carpenter, who joins Madonna on “Bring Your Love”, a No. 74 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The album has since spun off a “Love Sensation” remix with Kylie Minogue and “Danceteria Afterhours”, a remix of “Danceteria” with Charli xcx.
Madonna, the American singer, songwriter and actress born in 1958 in Bay City, won seven awards at the MTV Video Music Awards in September. In October mbuzz reported that the “Evita” soundtrack gets its first vinyl release on 13 November.
