Amy Winehouse: rare acoustic “You Know I'm No Good” released from the archive

A rare acoustic version of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I'm No Good” was released on 27 October 2026, the day her album “Back to Black” turned 20. According to Clash, Spotify was given access to the singer’s archives and brought out the recording, which is available now.

Clash notes that “Back to Black” is the second highest-selling UK album of the 21st century and produced a string of hit singles. The record filtered Winehouse’s love of soul and doo-wop through a modern lens. Much of it took shape at Metropolis Studios in West London, where she would arrive with her guitar and record the first demos.

At a recent tribute concert at the Roundhouse, producer Mark Ronson recalled being astonished by her skill on the guitar and spoke of what those songs came to mean in his life. According to Clash, the acoustic take shows her gifts as both a songwriter and a vocalist, the qualities that first won Ronson over.

Amy Winehouse, born in 1983 in Southgate, was an English singer-songwriter working in soul, rhythm and blues and jazz; she died in 2011. On 21 October “Back to Black” was performed in full at the Roundhouse in Camden for a one-night anniversary celebration, and earlier in October mbuzz reported that her 2006 TV performance of “Back to Black” had been released on YouTube.
